Chambal

Rajasthan & the North, India

Home to over 300 species of resident and migratory birds, the Chambal River is a paradise for bird enthusiasts.

Sweeping ravines and riverways provide a rich habitat for the endangered Gharial, as well as the rare Gangetic River dolphin, Indian Striped hyena and smooth-coated otters.

Taking a boat safari along the river brings you closer to life on the water, with the chance to spot a wealth of birdlife including the Indian skimmer, sarus crane and brown hawk eagle, while the nearby Bateshwar temples are reminiscent of Varanasi’s ghats, offering a hint of the river’s religious significance.
