Kalkudah
Kalkudah's crescent-shaped bay creates some of the east coast's calmest waters.
The wide sandy beach, fringed with coconut palms, slopes gently into shallow water that's perfect for swimming and safe for families. Coral reefs not far away provide decent snorkelling, while the relaxed pace offers a nice alternative to busier eastern destinations. Several beach resorts call this bay home, and it makes a good base for exploring the eastern coastline or visiting nearby Batticaloa. It’s also the perfect place to simply unwind.
