Kumana National Park
While Yala gets the crowds, Kumana offers a more intimate wildlife experience on the southeast coast.
The star attraction is the 200-hectare Kumana Villu mangrove swamp, where over 250 bird species nest and breed between April and July – it's a birdwatcher's paradise. But mammals haven't been forgotten; leopards, elephants, and the elusive sloth bear all call this park home.
With fewer visitors than other parks, you'll often have wildlife sightings to yourself.
