Wilpattu
Wilpattu National Park is one of Sri Lanka's largest National Parks and is a fantastic alternative to the more visited Yala National Park further south.
Whilst accommodation options are fairly limited, we feel this park is much better suited to those interested in wildlife that want to avoid the crowds. Head out on a morning or afternoon jeep safari, or even visit on the way up to the ancient cities.
The dense jungle feels very different to the drylands of Yala, and in recent years there have been some impressive sightings. Wilpattu is home to some amazing varieties of birds alongside leopard, sloth bear and elephant./p>
