Inspiration
Bera Safari Lodge is a sanctuary for both nature and nature-lover alike. When its founder Shatrunjay Pratap fought back against local mining efforts, he not only preserved Bera as a natural habitat, but allowed tourists to share his passion for nature with a stay at the safari lodge.
By day, journey through the hills and catch a glimpse of the myriad bird species that flock here. Lose yourself in an evening sharing stories by the campfire before spending a cosy night in one of its seven modern cottages.
And if the magic of nature isn’t quite enough, you can visit ancient temples or simply cool off in the pool.
What we love
- A real treat for wildlife photographers and nature lovers. Eagles, pelicans, osprey, flamingos, crocodiles, sloths and even leopards are all waiting to be found
- All cottages are spacious, stylish, and complete with all mod-cons, including air-con, mini fridges and two bathrooms
- Expect a warm welcome and friendly hospitality. Your hosts, Shetrunjay & his wife Katyeyi, will make you feel right at home
- The hotel offers plenty of experiences, including trips through 15th century UNESCO heritage sites and local Rabari villages
As unbeatable as it is to spot a leopard in its natural habitat, these creatures are elusive and there’s no guarantee of seeing one
It’s a long, 3-hour drive from Udaipur airport, but we’d happily make the journey for the opportunity to see such a broad and unique array of wildlife
Being so remote, there’s little local options for food, but we trust you’ll find something to like on the menu - all meals are made with fresh, local ingredients, prepared by Rajasthani chefs
