Inspiration
Tucked away in the Aravalli Hills outside Udaipur, Bujera Fort is a modern fort-style property that sensitively reflects the Mughal style of Rajasthan’s historic hotels.
A landscaped garden houses a monochrome tiled pool, the rose-hued walls forming a perfect pastel backdrop. Inside, the decor is a feast for the eyes, carefully chosen by owners Richard and Trish, the former who sourced textiles for Firmdale Hotels. In cooler weather, cosy up in the library or drawing room, each equipped with plush sofas. Meals, with ingredients sourced from the hotel garden, can be served both indoors and out. There is also a small spa.
What we love
- A modern yet rustic and very stylish fort-style property with comfortable accommodation
- Enjoy farm-to-table dining. Most of the produce served comes directly from the hotel gardens
- A great choice of spaces to relax–we love the library with its sumptuous sofas
- There’s a lovely outdoor pool area
- Carefully chosen decor makes the hotel feel homely and warm
If you want to explore Udaipur’s attractions, you’ll need to drive, but it’s a great place to switch off
There aren’t many loungers by the pool so be sure to secure yours early
The hotel welcomes children over the age of 12 but there aren’t any specific amenities designed with families in mind. Some rooms have extra beds to accommodate families and there’s also the cottage, with three guestrooms and a private garden.
All of the hot water at the property is solar-powered and they harvest rainwater and use waste water for the gardens.
Bujera Fort is found in Bujera Village, a short drive from the western banks of Udaipur’s Lake Pichola.
