Inspiration
The Francis Residence is a cosy homestay in North Kochi, a stone’s throw from the Indian Ocean.
The kitchen is the heart of the home and your hosts seriously adore their food - after all, Kerala was a hub of the spice trade for centuries. Jump into cookery classes with the host Mrs Rosy, where you will prepare and eat freshly caught seafood fused with a plethora of rich Indian spices.
Or, simply wander the streets and find the thattukada street food vendors offering dosas and kanzhi rice pudding near the city’s colonial landmarks. In the evening, you can even wind down at the hotel spa before having your own barbecue
What we love
- Its six homely rooms are all uniquely designed and come with an array of amenities from WiFi, satellite TV and air conditioning
- The hotel is owned and managed by a couple who will bring the most friendly, affable service to your experience and welcome you as if it’s your home
- Learn to craft traditional recipes with your hosts, including Malabar and Alleppey fish curries
- Well-located near the city’s colonial landmarks and vast views of the ocean
There’s no pool at the hotel, but we think the yoga classes and Ayurvedic spa treatments more than make up for that
There are no blackout curtains in the bedrooms, so keep this in mind if you prefer a lie-in
The restaurants are a little further away to walk, but with such highly praised food at the hotel, we don’t need to eat anywhere else
Families are welcome, but amenities are not designed with families in mind.
Located along KB Jacob Road in the old trading city of Kochi, within easy walking distance of many of Kochi’s main sights, and a 1.5-hour drive from Cochin International Airport.
