Inspiration
A charming property that invites you to relax surrounded by nature. Jehan Numa Retreat is located on the outskirts of Bhopal, bordering the Vin Vihar National Park, and the estate spans twelve and a half acres, giving guests plenty of space to find a peaceful spot to unwind.
There is a large swimming pool, sauna, steam room and fitness centre as well as a spa offering a range of relaxing and nurturing treatments. Dining is a highlight here, with three characterful options to choose from the Greenhouse Bistro, Under The Jamun Tree or the fine dining restaurant, The Coriander Leaf. Not to be left out, the Citrus Garden Project bar offers mixologist cocktails which celebrate Indian flavours, and a selection of sharing platters to snack on.
There are 28 guest rooms, all featuring air-conditioning, fridge, TV, WiFi and ensuite bathroom. The luxury rooms are more spacious, and their bathrooms include bathtub and open-sky showers. Guests can take a tour of the organic vegetable gardens and between October and March, morning yoga is offered free of charge. Bicycles are available to hire to explore the surrounding area, independently or with a guide, and travellers can also enjoy boat trips on Lake Bhopal and cultural heritage tours of the city.
What we love
- A peaceful retreat in nature
- Extensive organic kitchen gardens provide the three restaurants and cocktail bar with their ingredients, fresh from the source
- Borrow bicycles to explore the area and keep a lookout for resident birdlife and wildlife along the way
- Morning yoga sessions seasonally are a perfect way to start the day
- We highly recommend the delicious Indian kebabs at the Under the Jamun Tree restaurant
The style of the rooms is quite classic and in some cases a little dated, but they are well maintained and extremely comfortable and we find most guests spend the majority of their time in the gardens, poolside or at the spa
Pack some mosquito repellent for the evenings
The luxury rooms are worth the upgrade for the extra space and sky showers
The resort welcomes families. In the evenings the resort plays a wildlife documentary with projector and canvas screen for children to enjoy a movie after their dinner, lounging on beanbags and learning more about nature. The resort was built without cutting a single tree, and this ethos of caring for nature carries through in all of their operations, down to the organic vegetable gardens which provide the kitchens and bar with the majority of their ingredients.Jehan Numa Retreat is well situated for exploring the local area only five minutes’ drive from Van Vihar National Park, 30 minutes’ drive to Bhopal Lake and 30 minutes’ drive to Bhopal airport. What our travellers say
