Inspiration
Kings Lodge is an unpretentious property ideally placed for tiger safaris, set between two forested hills in the grasslands just 10 minutes from Bandhavgarh National Park’s main gate.
From morning to night, immerse yourself in nature, both at the lodge and in the national park - cycle from village to village, embark on walking or jeep safaris, wander the grasslands, watch birds from the observation platform, and visit the nearby butterfly farm.
At the property, cool off by the pool, chill at the spa, dine on delicious local cuisine, or cosy up with a book in the library. Your spacious cottage awaits for a peaceful slumber.
What we love
- A charming and unpretentious safari lodge
- Just 10 minutes from the Tala Gate to Bandhavgarh National Park - ideal for anyone seeking a safari experience
- The park is a great spot for tiger sightings - locally trained naturalist guides will accompany you on all excursions and even offer additional information sessions in the evenings.
- The 18 cottages are spacious and comfortable - we love the stilted cottages for a unique stay
- Cool off by the swimming pool, surrounded by lush forest vegetation
- Explore the surroundings on jeep safaris both night and day, as well as cycling excursions and walking safaris
- The property has impressive eco-credentials and the team works hard to give back to the local community
You’ll be immersed in Sal forest so don’t be surprised to see insects around - be sure to keep your room closed and bring repellant
There isn’t a wide choice on the menu for meals but it’s a remote property and everything is locally sourced
No TVs but there is a library with a selection of books available and evening entertainment is provided - we doubt you’ll miss it!
Families are very welcome at Kings Lodge and kids will love the array of safari activities on offer. Facilities and rooms are not specifically designed with families in mind but extra beds can be accommodated for an additional cost.
One of seven Pugdundee Safari properties that each strive to rewild the forests in which they are built. They are working to eliminate single-use plastics and 70% of the hotel’s energy is solar powered, including the water heating pump. All food is sourced within a 50km radius and organically grown, while staff are employed from the surrounding villages.
Kings Lodge sits just a 10-minute drive from the Tala entry gate of wildlife-rich Bandhavgarh National Park, a popular safari destination. The closest airport is Jabalpu about a 4-hour drive away but there is also the option to charter a small plane to a nearby airstrip, which is just a 45-minute drive from the lodge.
