Inspiration
Marari Beach Resort is a 30-acre hotel on the Keralan Coast, perched on golden sands, shaded by fruit trees and coconut groves.
Its 62 private villas are thatched with coconut leaves, and their design reflects the region’s traditional villages that form the backbone of the community. Spend a morning picking fresh fruits from the hotel’s four-acre organic garden and savour them over a candlelit dinner watching live music.
Or simply lose yourself in a book by your private pool after a day on the beach. Marari Beach Resort is praised for its service and traditional charm and is the ideal getaway from India’s bustling cities.
What we love
- For such a large resort, your villas offer privacy and seclusion, and private pools allow you the opportunity to relax in your own space
- The beach is clean and beautiful - no smoke-emitting watersports are allowed, and there are relatively few hawkers to bother you while you’re sunbathing
- The hotel puts all its efforts into sustainability and the environment, having won awards for its schemes to collect fresh rainwater, treat sewage and compost waste from their own homegrown vegetables
- There are three naturalists working at the property who can guide you around the Kitchen and Butterfly Gardens
- There are no end of activities to enjoy, from tennis to volleyball, yoga to spa treatments, even pick fresh fruits from the hotel garden to enjoy with your meals
Breakfast finishes at 9:30 am, but this at least gives you more time to focus on the day ahead
Mosquitos come out after sunset, so you’d be well advised to bring some repellent
There is an active community of fishermen on the beach so choose your sunbathing spot carefully if you don’t wish to be disturbed
Families are welcome, children under 5 stay free and extra beds are available for all rooms on request
Marari Beach Resort is a CGH Earth hotel, all of which are lauded for their eco and community credentials. They are working with a women’s support group in Marari to produce handwoven bathroom linens, and are reducing their use of plastics. The hotel has also won environmental rewards for solar-driven water heating and rainwater harvesting scheme, to its sewage treatment programme
Located by the coast on beach road, a 20-minute drive from the town of Alappuzha, and a 3-hour drive from Cochin International Airport
