Inspiration
An intimate family-run homestay, Premkunj is a tranquil retreat a short drive from Udaipur, enveloped by the verdant slopes of the Aravalli Hills.
The owner, Bhupendra, is enthralled by the area and his passion is infectious. There’s a real focus on community–staff are all from the area and food is sourced from the hotel garden or nearby villages.
Udaipur city is within easy reach but you’ll also find the Sajjangarh Reserve nearby, a paradise for birdwatching and, if you’re lucky, deer and other wildlife. This charming hotel is perfect for nature lovers and anyone seeking a relaxing stay away from the bustle of Udaipur.
What we love
- A friendly, family-run property with attentive service
- There are just eight guest rooms, ensuring an intimate atmosphere
- Beautiful views of the Aravalli Hills from the central pool
- Ideally located for anyone who prefers the calm of the countryside but wants to explore Udaipur’s attractions
- There are no better surroundings for a guided meditation or yoga session
- Pick fresh ingredients directly from the hotel’s organic garden
A 20-minute drive from the city but perfect for anyone who prefers a peaceful break
No spa facilities but that’s rare for a hotel of this size
You can’t just walk to a restaurant or shop but the hotel restaurant will keep you satisfied
Families are welcome but as there aren’t any specific amenities for children. We feel it’s better suited to families with older children.
The owner, Bhupendra, is keen to preserve the natural surroundings and has planted over 4,000 trees in the local area. Most of the produce served here is grown locally and staff are all from nearby villages. They also support the local school and donate money to fund education for local girls.
Premkunj can be found 20 minutes north of the city of Udaipur, surrounded by the Aravalli Hills.
