Inspiration
Purity overlooks the widest stretch of Lake Vembanad.
Built in 2003, this Relais & Châteaux property is a modern villa that embraces regal architectural quirks from across India. From the moment you arrive by boat at the waterfront pavilion, you can see how the natural beauty of the lake perfectly complements the careful design of the hotel.
Candlelit meals by the lakeside and shikara rides through the lagoons and backwaters are just some of the ways Purity allows you to experience Lake Vembanad’s magic. During your stay, you can relax in the pool, refresh with yoga classes, and unwind with Ayurvedic spa treatments, too.
What we love
- You can take a shikara ride through the lake and backwaters, and nature lovers will be rewarded with sightings of otters, cormorants, and kingfishers
- Guests frequently praise the hospitality - the hotel staff are extremely knowledgeable in the local area and will organise an array of activities for you
- If you need time to rejuvenate, the pool, yoga classes, and Ayurvedic spa treatments are waiting for you
- The rooms expertly blend modernity with touches of the traditional and promise spectacular views
The hotel only has 14 rooms, so we suggest booking far in advance
Your approach is through swampy backwaters and small villages, but don’t be fooled - the true beauty of the hotel and Lake Vembanad is worth the wait
There are few restaurants within walking distance, so you may want to ask the hotel to arrange transport for you if you plan to explore the local culinary scene
Families are welcome, and there are amenities for children including playgrounds, and babysitting services too
As a Relais & Châteaux property, Purity is committed to all its values and initiatives, sourcing local food and developing relationships with local farmers and fishermen, fishing responsibly to protect biodiversity, and reducing food waste.
They are invested in teaching service and hospitality skills to those from their local communities
Located in Muhamma on the western banks of Lake Vembanad, and a 45-mile drive from Cochin airport
