Inspiration
Tucked away in Jodhpur’s bustling walled city, super stylish RAAS affords unbeatable views of Mehrangarh Fort, which towers above the city skyline.
A mix of 18th-century and modern buildings all sensitively adopt the typical architectural style of Jodhpur, with rose-coloured sandstone walls and carved shutters that let dappled light into the 40 guestrooms. The pool is the place to be when not exploring the city. Prepare to be pampered by the poolside butlers from the comfort of your curtained lounger. Then feast on Rajasthani, Thai, or Mediterranean cuisine in one of the restaurants, accompanied by that seriously amazing view. This is a hotel like no other and a favourite of ours.
What we love
- Plenty of dining options – our favourite is Baradari for the clear view of Mehrangarh Fort from the terrace
- The hotel offers plenty of tours and activities, including a visit to Umaid Bhawan and a full-day tour of the Blue City
- Beautiful architecture blending traditional Rajasthani design with a modern attitude to space and light
- Indulge at the spa with a range of treatments that use luxury Ma Earth products, all made with purely natural ingredients
- We could spend hours by the pool, lounging with a cocktail from the bar or unwinding with poolside yoga
Dining is expensive, but we think it’s worth it for the atmosphere and the incredible views of Mehrangarh Fort
There is little privacy in the garden rooms, but the French windows have floor-length curtains that you can use to swap natural light for privacy
It can sometimes be noisy as it’s in the heart of the walled city, but the hotel staff are happy to provide earplugs
Families are welcome, and there are specific amenities and activities for children including board games, books, and even a zipline.
The water at every RAAS hotel is heated with solar power, and they’re working hard to reduce their water consumption. Each hotel grows its own herbs and vegetables, and anything not grown by the hotel is locally sourced.
70% of all labour and material used to construct each hotel comes from within a 30km radius, reducing the carbon footprint and supporting the local community where possible.
Located on Sutharo Ka Bass Road in Jodhpur’s north-eastern quarter, a 10-minute walk from Mehrangarh Fort.
