Inspiration
Perched on a hillside in rural Rajasthan, Ramathra Fort has been lovingly restored into a boutique hotel, complete with the original ramparts, expansive tented suites, and even a Jacuzzi on one of the turrets.
Come here to escape India’s frenetic cities, enjoying walks to local villages, birdwatching by the lake, and sunset boating. The owners, Ravi and Gitanjali, will welcome you with open arms and share their knowledge and passion for the region.
Dine on home-cooked, locally sourced meals, which are all included in a stay here. A wonderful choice to break up the journey between Ranthambore and Jaipur.
What we love
- A beautifully converted fort in a tranquil part of rural Rajasthan
- Fantastic views from the ramparts–secure yourself a spot on one of the day beds to soak it all in
- All meals are included and made from locally sourced produce
- The owners, Ravi and Gitanjali, are gracious hosts and can’t wait to share their local knowledge with you
- Romantic accommodation–we love the stylish tented suites
- Enjoy the surroundings by boat, on foot, by car, or even by came
It’s remote and there aren’t any shops, bars, or restaurants nearby–but that’s all part of its charm
There isn’t currently a pool but there is a Jacuzzi up on the ramparts with incredible views
Limited mobile signal and no TV reception make this ideal for switching off
Children of all ages are welcome at Ramathra Fort and each room can accommodate one extra child. No cots are available and there are a few hazards like stone staircases around the property, so we feel it’s better for teens or kids above 4The owners of the fort work hard to preserve the natural environment surrounding the property and support the local community. They’ve planted several trees to reforest the area and use recycled water from the hotel to maintain them. Most of the staff are local and all the produce is organically grown in the surrounding villages. The owners of the fort work hard to preserve the natural environment surrounding the property and support the local community.
