Inspiration
Ranvas occupies the former women’s quarter of 12th Century Ahhichatragarh Fort in the desert town of Nagaur.
Peacocks wander the gardens, which are dotted with pomegranate trees, while pale stone walls ensconce 27 airy rooms and fresco-lined hallways. While sections of the fort are in disrepair, the hotel has been lovingly restored and exudes rustic charm.
Jewel-toned cushions provide a splash of colour in an otherwise calming space. Explore the fort, visit nearby temples, and embark on excursions in the Thar Desert. When you’re done, settle in for a rest by the pool, on your private sit-out, or sip a chai on the ramparts.
What we love
- A lovingly restored heritage property on the grounds of Ahhichatragarh Fort
- The 27 rooms are all spacious and airy with high ceilings
- Wander the ramparts at sunset–it feels like you have the fort all to yourself
- If you’re here during the Sufi Festival, the hotel comes alive with traditional music and dance
- The beautiful gardens and pool area invite relaxation
- Explore nearby temples or enjoy adventures in the Thar Desert
WiFi is limited and only available in the main courtyard so be prepared to switch off
No tea making facilities in the rooms but the staff will be happy to help you out
The stone decor may feel cold to some but we love its rustic charm
Families are welcome but amenities aren’t designed with families in mind. Children under six stay free and babysitting is available. However, the pool isn’t fenced so be careful if travelling with toddlers.Located within the grounds of Ahhichatragarh Fort in Nagaur, on the edge of Rajasthan’s Thar Desert. What our travellers say
