Inspiration
A short drive and boat ride from wildlife-rich Satpura Tiger Reserve, Reni Pani Jungle Lodge provides a fun and authentic safari experience in this gorgeous slice of rural India.
Twelve cottages are spread throughout the grounds, all decorated with local trinkets and boasting a private veranda, perfect for birdwatching.
Explore the tiger reserve by day and observe langurs, jackals, boar, leopards, sloth bears, and tigers, or embark on canoe excursions and hikes to nearby temples. Back at the lodge, lounge poolside, swot up on the area’s wildlife in the library or on the big screen, or settle in by a firepit in the garden.
What we love
- A lovely safari property close to Satpura Tiger Reserve, owned and run by two Bhopal princes
- The accommodation is spread throughout the grounds, ensuring plenty of privacy - we love the tents which overlook a busy watering hole
- Explore the tiger reserve on foot, by jeep or by boat - you can even trek to nearby temples or enjoy mountain biking adventures
- Unwind by the pool, immersed in the forest and surrounded by birdlife - or pay a visit to the library
- There’s a small shop on the property and all proceeds go back to the local community
- All meals, activities and drinks are included in your stay, including alcohol, making this fantastic value
You may hear the lodge’s dogs barking from time to time so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper
The WiFi doesn’t reach all of the rooms but it’s a great opportunity to switch off
Due to wildlife in the area, you’ll need to be accompanied to and from your room at night for safety reasons - the staff are very accommodating about this but there are no phones in rooms to call reception once you’re back in your room
Families are welcome at Reni Pani Jungle Lodge but amenities aren’t designed with families in mind. Kids will love the pool and the array of activities on offer, including safaris, canoe trips, and mountain biking.
The owners of Reni Pani work hard to preserve the forest surrounding the lodge and do what they can to support the local community. Most of the staff come from the local villages and they are trying to raise awareness of the importance of conservation through education.
Reni Pani Jungle Lodge is spread across hilltops, lowlands, and forest on a stretch of land a short distance from Tawa Reservoir and Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, India’s central province. It’s a 3.5-hour drive to the nearest airport, Raja Bhoj.
