Inspiration
Occupying a meticulously restored section of a 700-year-old fort, Six Senses Fort Barwara is a showstopping hotel within fairly easy reach of Ranthambore National Park.Between safaris, visiting villages, and exploring the fort, you can be kept busy, but ensure you have plenty of time to enjoy the hotel and its extensive facilities–the spa, converted from one of the on-site temples, is particularly impressive. Suites are a perfect blend of contemporary and traditional and afford ample space, looking out over the Aravalli Hills or Barwara Lake. The 10 years of restoration to create this hotel were well worth the wait.
What we love

- A palatial spa that’s been converted from one of the fort’s old temples Head to the Viewing Gallery bar for sunset, accompanied by sublime cocktails and views of the Aravalli Hills
- Extensive activities both on and off-site–you’ll struggle to be bored here

Most of the suites are newly built but you’d never know. The buildings have been meticulously designed to blend in with the original fort
There aren’t many restaurants nearby but you have plenty of choice at the hotel, with its three restaurants and two bars
Families are well catered for, with a range of amenities, toys, and activities on offer for children. All ages are welcome and anyone under 12 stays for free. Extra beds and cots can be provided and there are a number of interconnecting suites. All of the restaurants offer children’s menus and high chairs, and even the spa has a child-friendly menu.
When it comes to activities, kids will be spoiled for choice. There’s a creche with a play area, complete with sandpit, toys, and an area designed to keep teenagers occupied. There’s also a kids’ club and babysitting is available
Not only is the property restored responsibly using traditional Rajasthani building techniques, Six Senses Fort Barwara also supports a number of environmental and community initiatives. At the hotel, they harvest the rainwater and even bottle their own drinking water to avoid single-use plastics. They have also done a lot of work to regenerate the environment and every year they operate a lake clean-up to remove litter and plastics. They support the local community by educating everyone on women’s health, providing sanitary products, and encouraging local enterprises–you’ll find local crafts for sale at the hotel shop.Located above the village of Chauth Ka Barwara, a short distance from the lake. The nearest airport is Jaipur, a 2.5-hour drive away. It’s an hour from Ranthambore National Park. What our travellers say
