Inspiration
A refined royal residence now converted into a hotel, Taj Fateh Prakash Palace occupies an enviable location within Udaipur’s City Palace Complex, right on the eastern shores of Lake Pichola.
The traditional Rajasthani architecture houses 65 spacious and elegant rooms and suites, many of which afford incredible views across the water to the Aravalli Hills beyond. Vast chandeliers and antique furniture come directly from the royal collection. After a day of sightseeing in Udaipur, retreat to the spa, opt for a dip in the pool, or indulge in afternoon tea. End your day at Sunset Terrace, the hotel’s popular restaurant.
What we love
- A refined property set within a royal residence in Udaipur’s City Palace Complex
- Spectacular views across Lake Pichola to the Aravalli Hills
- We love the restaurant, Sunset Terrace, for its unmatched views and ambience
- You’re just a short stroll away from the old town and some of Udaipur’s key attractions
- On the upper floor, visit the Crystal Gallery, thought to be one of the world’s largest collections of crystals
There’s only one restaurant but it’s a showstopper–if you prefer more choice, you’re just a short walk from the city
The restaurant is open to the public so be sure to reserve a table as it’s a popular spot
Some of the rooms are a little dated in places but that’s to be expected from a historic building
The hotel is family-friendly but there aren’t any specific facilities or amenities.
The Taj hotel group launched Paathya, a sustainability programme that strives to eliminate single-use plastics and recycle waste water. They also support a number of community and environmental projects.
Taj Fateh Prakash Palace is located in the City Palace Complex, on the shores of Udaipur’s Lake Pichola.
