Inspiration
Hidden in the vibrant Lakkadi rainforest, this off-the-beaten-track sanctuary brings luxury into nature and blends them seamlessly.
Salvaged ship wood and bamboo weave into the building’s architecture, and open dining terraces and bedroom balconies give way to lush forest canopies with warbling birdlife.
Spot orange minivets and parakeets on guided tours, or tour through a local tea factory. For a sense of adventure, bamboo rafting and ziplining offer a different view of the rich forests. When it’s time to unwind, let the little ones enjoy indoor games and cooking lessons while taking a dip into the calming infinity pool.
What we love
- Private and secluded, this hotel nests in the middle of the forested Ghats, away from India’s crowded cities
- A haven for nature lovers - you can spot myriad bird species from bulbuls to parakeets
- There are endless activities available for those seeking adventure, from cycling and trekking, to zip lining and river rafting
- We love the infinity pool, resting calmly in the forest in perfect tranquillity
- Dine on delicious, locally sourced food, expertly and freshly prepared by their chef with three decades of experience
The rooms don’t have any air conditioning but nights can get cool here as you’re at altitude - in fact, we’d recommend packing layers
Bedrooms don’t have TVs, but avid nature lovers will find plenty of entertainment in the lush views of the forests from their balconies
Being so far into the forest, there are no restaurants nearby for you to hop to for an evening meal, but all food is prepared with local ingredients so you can get a taste of the area’s cuisine
Families are welcome, and there are a number of amenities and activities directed at children, like cooking sessions and educational games
As a CGH Earth hotel, Wayanad Wild is committed to ethical and sustainable tourism practices, like buying all food locally, and using natural and locally-sourced materials in the hotel’s structure
Located in the untamed forests of Lakkadi, in the hills of the Western Ghats. It’s a 2-hour 30-minute drive from Calicut International Airport.
