Inspiration
Kurumba was the first island resort in the Maldives and, over the decades, it’s been updated and elevated to a luxury, modern resort - but you’ll still find a nod to its roots in the traditional dark wood that appears in the 180 rooms and villas.
It’s just a 10-minute speedboat from the airport so you can have your feet in the sand just minutes after disembarking your flight. With 10 restaurants and bars, every taste is catered for and you’ll be spoiled for choice of cuisine throughout your stay, from Teppanyaki to Middle Eastern and gloriously grilled seafood. Borrow the glass-bottomed kayaks and explore the reefs - if you’re lucky, you can spot marine life swimming underneath you - try stand up paddleboarding, or even book diving excursions to nearby reefs or shipwrecks.
When you’re ready to unwind, enjoy the spa, pool, fitness centre, and yoga classes. It’s a great option for families and has the awards to back it up, with child-friendly accommodation, a kids club, and plenty of activities on offer to keep little ones entertained, from arts & crafts to watersports to beach games and movies under the stars. There’s also nightly entertainment in the bars and on the beach.

You’re under the flight path here so expect a tiny bit of noise from planes
The sea wall that surrounds the resort means there’s no coral reef for snorkelling straight off the beach but you are protected from the waves caused by passing speedboats
Some of the rooms feel a little dated, but this is reflected in the cost
Last orders are 11pm but the room service is 24 hours if you want to sip a cocktail at your villa
You are very close to Mahe, so the resort feels less secluded than most
Families are very welcome. There's a kids club, water sports and activities, and a children's playgroundOnly a 10 minutes speedboat ride from Male International Airport. What our travellers say
