Inspiration
Adigar's Manor ( Formally the Kandy House) is a highly-sought after ancestral 'Walauwa' (ancestral mansion) in the spice-growing hills that surround Kandy.
Its completion heralded what Sri Lanka's hill-country-capital had been waiting for so long; a brilliant small boutique hotel capable of offering stylish and private accommodation and attentive personal service in a beautiful natural setting. The inspired refurbishment, with its white interiors, polished hardwood floorboards, jackwood staircase, Dutch-style antique furniture and careful injections of colour, has been a triumph.
Channa Daswatta, one of Geoffrey Bawa’s protégés and Sri Lanka’s leading modern architects, provided the creative inspiration. The bedrooms are unquestionably some of the most characterful in Kandy. The freshwater infinity pool in the garden and wide verandas of the house provide irresistible opportunities to unwind and relax.
What we love
- A beautiful boutique hotel outside of Kandy
- The rooms are spacious and quirky
- It's very peaceful and we particularly love the gardens and pool
Whilst Adigar's Manor is beautiful, it's arguably a bit rustic and some rooms are a little dark. However, this is because it's a historic building so it suits those looking for some character and charm
We wouldn't recommend small children stay here as it has a mature, serene feel with lots of steps
Children are welcome, although they must be over 12 years.
Adigar's House is located just 20 minutes outside of Kandy.
