Inspiration
Amaya Lake, near Dambulla, is a simple, comfortable and good value hotel that enjoys a peaceful and beautiful setting by the banks of Kandalama Lake, in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle.
The low-level cabanas blend subtly with the surrounding woodland; we like that the hotel doesn't feel too imposing or out of place, despite being quite modern. It's well located, good value and offers flexible accommodation making this a good option for both couples and families.
Rooms are light, airy and incredibly comfortable, ranging from Signature Suites, Deluxe Suites with Plunge Pools as well some well thought-out family options such as a Family Suite and Family Villa. There are also lots of interconnecting options as well, making this an incredibly practical hotel. There's also a spa, The Samara Restaurant, a poolside bar and destination dining available as well.
What we love
- Fantastic lake side location, close by to Dambulla in The Cultural Triangle
- Flexible accomodation makes this a good option for couples and families - it's rare to find options that cater to families in single rooms
- It's affordable and is a welcome change from some of the more expensive options in the area
- It's very comfortable and is designed for those wanting some facilities and ammenities rather than anything too rustic
- There's a good pool
It's not particularly design led, and feels a little more international in style than many hotels in Sri Lanka. If you want something stylish, this may not be for you
The hotel is not for those wanting to get back to basics or stay in something eco and rustic, there are other options for you
The hotel offers a family villa making it a perfect option.Near Dambulla in The Cultural TriangleWhat our travellers say
