Inspiration
Sitting on a rocky outcrop on Sri Lanka's southern coast, Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle is one of Sri Lanka's most luxurious beach resorts and is ideal for families and couples wanting some time to unwind for a few days or even a few weeks.
With a range of restaurants, pools, a spa and a kids club, it suits everyone and with 152 rooms it doesn't feel too large or overwhelming. It has a beautiful beach front location and whilst the beach isn't swimmable all year, it's location is fantastic. There are numerous rooms to choose from that vary in size and view.
We particularly like the Deluxe Ocean View, and for families these can interconnect with Premier Ocean View Rooms. There are also a range of villas, which are perfect for families. There are numerous restaurants to choose from, including an Italian and an Asian restaurant, and a children's menu is offered in all locations.
What we love
- Fantastic selection of faciltities with several restaurants and priving dining options
- Spacious with several pools so it never feels crowded
- We particularly loved the Asian Restaurant, which is open air
- For families there's a kids club and kids menus in all restaurants
- Loads of activities including a biodiversity centre and Tropic Surf for those wanting to learn
There aren't many restaurants near by to walk to but there are several restaurants to choose from inside the hotel and they are high quality. This region is quiet and peaceful so there's not much going on, perfect for most
No babysitting in room
The beach isn't always swimmable but you can walk down to another stretch which is a safer stretch of beach
The breakfast is a buffet, but we thought it was a really high standard
This is a resort designed with both couples and families in mind, and there's ample room for both. There's a small kids club tucked away, kid meals are available in all restaurants and there's a kids pool and two large lap pools.
Whether it's for a few nights or an entire week, this is one of Sri Lanka's best family friendly resorts.
The hotel works with the community and local government to conserve the natural ecosystem. Rainwater is collected and bottled, and grey water is used for their gardens, single-use plastics are prohibited, and organic waste is either recycled as animal feed or used for composting. Not far from Tangalle on Sri Lanka's south coast. What our travellers say
