Inspiration
Buckingham Place is a unique owner run boutique hotel on a five-acre estate between the quiet and protected beaches of Rekawa, where marine turtles come ashore to nest, and the tranquil Rekawa Lagoon.
This colourful eleven-room hotel is a firm favourite with us. It's contemporary in design with tasteful interiors and serves delicious Sri Lankan and international fusion cuisine. Seafood is often purchased from the local fisherman and vegetables from the village home gardens.
We love how much Buckingham Place supports Rekawa village and supports the valuable Turtle Conservation Project located nearby. Buckingham Place have also introduced an anti-plastic commitment, phasing out the purchase and use of all plastic and polythene that cannot be used for at least 6 months.
What we love
- The owner, Nick Buckingham, is well loved by our guests. It's rare to find such a brilliant owner run property on the south coast
- It's close by to Rekawa Beach, home to the Turtle Conservation Project
- The contemporary and colourful rooms are a welcome change from the rest of Sri Lanka
- This property feels good and does good for the local area
- The area feels very serene despite being so close to Tangalle
- The food gets great feedback
Children are welcome but not under 6 years, which is a shame for our younger guests
It books up super quickly, so we suggest securing a room if you love it.
Yes kids are warmly welcome, just not tiny ones under 6 years.Working towards a plastic free environment the hotel replaced plastic water bottle with refillable flasks. Continuing to focus on plastic free initiatives and striving towards supporting the ocean and planet.Located close to Rekawa Beach and Tangalle, this is stunning locationWhat our travellers say
