Inspiration
Cape Weligama, part of the prestigious Resplendent Ceylon collection, is a luxurious coastal and cliff top retreat on Sri Lanka’s south coast.
The resort offers 39 spacious suites and villas set across 12 acres of lush landscaped gardens, with stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Located just a short distance from the surf town of Weligama, the property is designed to reflect a traditional southern village, with clusters of villas and residences, many featuring private pools. The layout ensures a serene and peaceful atmosphere, with the small clusters providing a sense of privacy.
At the heart of the resort is the Main Square, which houses the dining and living pavilions offering sweeping ocean views. Cape Weligama’s extensive facilities include a cliff-top infinity pool, a well-equipped fitness centre, a luxurious spa offering a range of treatments, and a tennis court. The resort also boasts a variety of dining options, from the elegant main restaurant to more casual settings, ensuring an array of culinary experiences. For those seeking adventure, the resort provides access to water sports and guided excursions to explore the surrounding coastline and nearby cultural sites. The tranquil ambiance, combined with these exceptional facilities, makes Cape Weligama one of Sri Lanka’s finest coastal escapes.
What we love
- High quality hotel with lots of facilities
- It's owned by Dilmah Tea and is therefore in the same family as Wild Coast and Tea Trails. This demonstrates it's high quality
- It's brilliant for families and couples as there are separate pools
It sits above the beach, so is more of a cliff top hotel rather than a beach front hotel. However, there is a nice little bay a short walk away with a fun restaurant and bar
Some of the villas have shared pools rather than private pools
Families are very welcome; there's a two bedroom family suite, the family friendly Cove Pool and kids menus available. You'll also find kids cookery lessons and mask painting.
Cape Weligama are committed to sustainability and established Dilmah Conservations in 2007. Key initiatives are focused on climate change, land and sea and people and culture.
In easy reach of Weligama, but also Mirissa. Cape Weligama is also just 30 minutes from Galle.
