This modern, horseshoe-shaped resort is set on a tranquil promontory, surrounded by lush greenery on the peaceful banks of Weerawila Lake.

It offers an appealing option for visitors to Yala National Park, just under an hour away, as well as the sacred site of Kataragama. The Hilton DoubleTree resort is ideal for those who prefer the reliability and comfort of a contemporary hotel.

Rooms are neutrally decorated with calming natural hues and every room or suite has either a balcony or patio with lake or garden views. The resort features a large lakeside pool, and a rooftop restaurant that offers spectacular vistas of the surrounding landscape. The full-service Balinese spa has an extensive treatment menu.

The standardised design does lack a local cultural ambience but for those wanting the familiarity of a well-known international brand, it ticks every box

Family-friendly with a separate children’s pool and children’s menus throughout the resort. A playground and in-room babysitting services are available. Cycling, billiards, fishing, canoeing, and karaoke all on offer for every age. The property offers a choice of family suites or inter-connecting rooms.

Located on the banks of Weerawila Lake, close to Weerawila Tissa Bird Sanctuary, Double Tree Hotel Weerawila is a 15-minute drive from Bundala National Park, while Yala National Park is accessible within an hour. The nearest international airport is Mattala Rajapaksa, which is 26km (14 miles) away from the property.

If Red Dot ever ceased to exist and I wanted to return to Sri Lanka I would probably go somewhere else instead. They were, in every way shape and form, impeccable. Exceptional tour of Sri Lanka with Dami. We cannot recommend Dami at Red dot tours highly enough. As our guide over 9 days he made sure that our trip to Sri Lanka was unforgettable- always going above & beyond to impart his knowledge, show us things off the beaten track, looking after us, getting us to try many local delicacies & making us laugh .. a LOT. Cannot imagine anyone doing a better job- if we could take him with us on every holiday we would!

Dulmini did a great job listening to our wishes and arranged an itinerary that was very busy but met all our needs. Sisira, our guide, was outstanding, providing us with great local knowledge and suggesting other activities on our travels. He was a great driver on the busy Sri Lankan roads, was always punctual but above all added colour to the whole trip.

Wow what can I say, from start to finish we have had a wonderful holiday with Red Dot Tours. We spent 13 days on a Bawa tour with wonderful driver and guide Manjula, including Kandalama Heritance, The Kandy House, The Last House, Jetwing Yala, Jetwing Lighthouse and Club Villa hotels. This is an excellent tour company. They planned our Sri Lankan holiday from start to finish. The trip was initially planned for 2022 but due to Covid and other issues we didn’t manage to undertake the trip until this year. As a group of 8 we have had the most fabulous tour of Sri Lanka organised by Dulmini from RedDot who totally understood my brief of "some" culture, agriculture, nature, trekking and relaxation. The hotels chosen were a wonderful mixture of homestay, tented and pure luxury (Ceylon Tea Trails). The experiences to local villages, trekking the Pekoe Trail and climbing Pidurangala were memorable and our wonderful guide, Ananda, was so informative and knowledgeable and adapted to our needs admirable (not easy with a group of 8)
