Jetwing Kaduruketha

Jetwing Kaduruketha, part of the well-established Jetwing group, is a modest and tranquil retreat located in the rural town of Wellawaya, south of Ella.

It serves as an excellent stopover for those heading towards Arugam Bay or entering the hill country from the south. Surrounded by vast paddy fields and gently rolling hills, the property features 25 simple, open-plan dwellings that blend seamlessly with the natural environment.

These are spacious and fan-cooled. The resort prioritises sustainability and offers a comfortable, unpretentious experience that reflects local culture. Guests can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere from the infinity pool overlooking the fields, explore the surrounding countryside on cycling trails, or relax with a traditional Ayurvedic treatment at the spa. Its straightforward design and eco-conscious approach make Jetwing Kaduruketha an ideal base for nature lovers and those seeking a genuine connection to Sri Lanka’s rural landscape and heritage.

What we love

For such a small no frills hotel, there are good facilities including a pool and spa
We love the sense place; it feels paired back, eco friendly and in keeping with the natural surroundings
It's well located if travelling to and from Yala to the Hill Country
It's a little warmer here as it's lower than most of the Hill Country

At the time of writing, the rooms are fan cooled and not air conditioned, however to some this is a very good thing and far more environmentally friendly

It's simple so don't expect anything luxurious

Service isn't 5* but it's done with a a huge smile

You're not in the heart of the tea country, but the hilly scenery is striking nonetheless

Families are very welcome and they will love the range of experiences

The architecture is designed to keep the rooms cool and air flowing through; this negates the need for air conditioning, only a fan. All organic waste generated at Jetwing Kaduruketha is treated and recycled onsite. The property is also completely self sufficient when it comes to rice. Please do ask us for more information as this property is a fantastic example.

Jetwing Kaduruketha is located near Wellawaya in the lowlands of the Hill Country, not far from Haputale, Koslanda and south of Ella.

If Red Dot ever ceased to exist and I wanted to return to Sri Lanka I would probably go somewhere else instead. They were, in every way shape and form, impeccable. Exceptional tour of Sri Lanka with Dami. We cannot recommend Dami at Red dot tours highly enough. As our guide over 9 days he made sure that our trip to Sri Lanka was unforgettable- always going above & beyond to impart his knowledge, show us things off the beaten track, looking after us, getting us to try many local delicacies & making us laugh .. a LOT. Cannot imagine anyone doing a better job- if we could take him with us on every holiday we would!

Dulmini did a great job listening to our wishes and arranged an itinerary that was very busy but met all our needs. Sisira, our guide, was outstanding, providing us with great local knowledge and suggesting other activities on our travels. He was a great driver on the busy Sri Lankan roads, was always punctual but above all added colour to the whole trip.

Wow what can I say, from start to finish we have had a wonderful holiday with Red Dot Tours. We spent 13 days on a Bawa tour with wonderful driver and guide Manjula, including Kandalama Heritance, The Kandy House, The Last House, Jetwing Yala, Jetwing Lighthouse and Club Villa hotels. This is an excellent tour company. They planned our Sri Lankan holiday from start to finish. The trip was initially planned for 2022 but due to Covid and other issues we didn’t manage to undertake the trip until this year. As a group of 8 we have had the most fabulous tour of Sri Lanka organised by Dulmini from RedDot who totally understood my brief of "some" culture, agriculture, nature, trekking and relaxation. The hotels chosen were a wonderful mixture of homestay, tented and pure luxury (Ceylon Tea Trails). The experiences to local villages, trekking the Pekoe Trail and climbing Pidurangala were memorable and our wonderful guide, Ananda, was so informative and knowledgeable and adapted to our needs admirable (not easy with a group of 8)
