Inspiration
Perched on Pottuvil Point on Sri Lanka’s east coast, Jetwing Surf is a lush, eco-friendly cabana resort that brings the beach right to your window.
The cabanas are spacious and airy; the resort’s architecture is inspired by seashells and made from coconut palm and iluk grass, keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum while remaining authentic and relaxing. Head down to the waves at sunrise for a swim, enjoy a tranquil day’s fishing, or catch a wave here in one of the world’s most famous surf spots.
What we love
- The cabanas are large and breezy, with air con, WiFi, indoor and outdoor showers, two large sofas, and picturesque views of the beach
- There’s a huge focus on sustainability, from water recycling to efficient energy use, to locally sourced ingredients for their delicious menus
- Plenty of dining options, whether by the pool, on the beach or in the comfort of your own cabana, ranging from seafood to barbecues
- Head down to the beach for some volleyball, enjoy some fishing with a local fisherman for your catch of the day, or grab a surfboard and catch some waves
- Perfect rest stop for nature lovers - from here, you could head to Gal Oya, Kumana and Lahugala National Parks
Be prepared to find sand everywhere - a small inconvenience for such a beautiful beach break
Being so out in the open, you may find a few bugs flying around, so come prepared with repellant
There are no fridges in the room so drinks are best enjoyed cool at the bar
It’s simple and not spoiling but it’s perfectly comfortable
Families are welcome, though amenities are not specifically designed with families in mind.
Jetwing Surf’s open architecture reduces the requirement for artificial light, natural materials reduce heat gain throughout the day, and all cabanas are designed to allow clean air to flow through naturally. Locally sourced ingredients are used for their dishes, and water is recycled through the soil.
Located on Kottukal Road in the town of Pottuvil, less than 20 minutes from Arugam Bay and a 6-hour 30-minute drive from Colombo International Airport.
