Location
Paradise Farm is situated in Ganepalla - a small, sleepy village just about two kilometers away from Kitulgala and a two-and-ahalf hour hour drive from Colombo. Nestled at the foot of the central highlands, Paradise Farm is set within a working organic agricultural farm with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. White water rafting and canoeing is possible in the nearby Kelani River just a 15-minute drive from the farm.
Introduction
Originally started in 1998 by the World View Foundation as a means for training local farmers in effective and sustainable natural agricultural practices, Paradise Farm continues to benefit its surrounding village community whilst allowing guests to experience its natural beauty. A 2 kms winding, narrow roadway leads to the main house with a frontal verandah overlooking a large infinity pool, and panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Paradise Farm is a tropical oasis with lush vegetation, flowing waterfalls, and a treasure trove of Sri Lanka's most valuable crops including rubber, green tea, cinnamon, fruits and vegetables - all grown organically and so, attracting plenty of birds and insects. For walks through the humid rainforest to the nearby waterfalls, leech socks and solution is recommended.

Accommodation
Three sizeable double bedrooms, all with four-poster beds with mosquito nets, attached bathrooms with showers. The third room is newly built and is separate from the main house with its own verandah for alfresco dining, infinity pool and wondrous views across the mountains - a romantic escape. Terracotta floor tiles and overhead ceiling fans help to keep the rooms cool and comfortable.
Facilities
Within the main house, a large open verandah serves as dining and lounging spaces bordered by an infinity pool with fresh spring water that cascades down from the surrounding rainforest. In keeping with the theme of natural well being - guests can also benefit from Ayurveda massages and herbal steam baths. A small wattle and daub hut with a thatched roof has been constructed for this purpose, adjoining the main house. Paradise Farm is managed by Vidya Perera who has numerous years of experience in plantation management. The cook and caretaker, Tikiri Banda, makes excellent Sri Lankan rice and curries, cooked in clay pots over a hearth using locally available produce. Fresh fruit drinks are made from garden produce.
Excursions
Explore Paradise Farm's extensive organic estate and learn of the sustainable farming methods and diverse crops including green tea, fruits, vegetables and spices. The surrounding lush vegetation, waterfalls, as well as numerous species of birds and butterflies - makes this an ideal destination for nature lovers. Environmentalists and birders will also enjoy exploring Sri Lanka's most famous rainforest Sinharaja, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage Site and an international Biosphere Reserve located nearby. White water rafting and canoeing is possible in the nearby Kelani River just 15 minutes away.
