Jetwing Blue is a luxurious contemporary hotel with an extensive beach frontage in Negombo. Previously known as the Blue Oceanic, the hotel reopened in January 2011 after rebranding and an extensive refurbishment. As well as being a beach resort hotel in its own right, Jetwing Blu offers a convenient place to recuperate after a long flight, being just 20 minutes drive from the international airport. The capital city of Colombo is about 80 minutes to the south.
Introduction
Jetwing Blue is a luxurious 112 room beach hotel with contemporary style. With hardly a trace of the old Blue Oceanic visible, the entire hotel has been refurbished giving it a light and airy, Mediterranean feel. Stylish bedrooms with spectacular beach views, a restaurant serving Sri Lankan and western cuisine and fine wines and an attentive service make this an ideal holiday getaway. The hotel looks out onto the best section of Negombo’s beaches with traditional catamarans sailing on the horizon. Jetwing Blue is owned by the reputed Jetwing Group who also owns several other hotels in Negombo, Cultural Triangle, Galle and the hill country.

Accommodation
There are 112 spacious bedrooms including 82 deluxe rooms, 21 super deluxe rooms; 6 suites, and three family rooms. All rooms have beach views and private balcony. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fan, plasma TV with satellite channels, DVD player, IDD telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee facility, room safe. Ensuite bathrooms have bathtubs and h/w showers.
Facilities
The main restaurant over looks the Indian Ocean and is serviced by an extensive show kitchen. Sri Lankan and Western cuisine is served here. Fresh seafood including prawns, crabs and fish are a specialty here. The hotel has a well-stocked wine cellar and an air-conditioned bar that serves a range of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages. Jetwing Blue has two swimming pools with one having lounge chairs immersed right in the water to keep your feet cool on a hot tropical day. There is also a spa offering rejuvenating massages. For extensive Ayurvedic wellness as well as yoga, guests are welcome to use the facilities at the hotel’s sister property, Ayurveda Pavilions which is just down the road. Other facilities include a gym, squash courts and a banquet hall.
Excursions
Jetwing Blue is in a central location from which to experience the North West coastal culture, heritage and natural beauty. The in-house Naturalist will accompany you on guided tours to see Negombo’s colonial architectural heritage including Portuguese period Catholic Churches, ruins of the Dutch Fort and cemetery, and boat rides along the centuries old Dutch Canals. Ride on a catamaran as it sets sail in to the sunset or watch as these large traditional fishing boats come ashore with their days’ catch. Visit the harbour early morning to see the catamarans come ashore, filled with the night’s catch of numerous varieties of fish, prawns, crab and lobster. For those interested in nature and the wilderness, take a boat ride into the Muthurajawela marshes and the Negombo Lagoon - home to numerous species of birds and fish, dragon flies and monitor lizards. Negombo by night also has a vibrant atmosphere with a scattering of bars and restaurants.
