Location
Maya Villa is an exquisite five-bedroom boutique hotel housed in a refurbished, century old manor house in the peaceful village of Aranwella. The coastal town of Tangalle is 7 kms from here; the beaches 15 minutes by car. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about four hours via the Southern highway. Avoid road travel and hop on board an Air Taxi which takes 35 minutes to get to Dickwella on the south coast - just 20 minutes away from Maya Villa.
Introduction
This manor house, built at the end of the 19C, is set on a two-acre estate overlooking terraced paddy fields where the villagers quietly go about their day’s work. This old property has been caringly restored by its current owner, Niki Fairchild, a British interior designer. The original walawua now houses the lounge and two bedrooms. A new building has been added on at the rear which houses three more bedrooms and living spaces. The two buildings are linked by a central courtyard and spectacular L shaped swimming pool.

Maya Villa is a wonderful blend of heritage architecture with modern living. Verandahs and courtyards, doors and windows with intricate lattice work, and clay-tiled roofs have all been retained and given a modern touch with polished cement floors and stylish contemporary interiors.

Wake up to the sound of bird call and the soothing chants from the nearby village temple; spend a day at the beach; relax at Maya with a rejuvenating Ayurvedic massage; and by dusk watch as the sun sets quietly over the paddy fields. Maya Villa is ideal for a family holiday, romantic escape or even a special occasion such as a wedding or family celebration.
