Apsara is a three bedroom villa overlooking the tranquil Bentota River in the south west. The villa is located in the rural riverside village of Seeni Watta which is one mile inland from Bentota town where the turquoise seas are ideal for surfing and swimming during the season from December to April. Apsara can be accessed by land or by boat. The historic town of Galle is 1.5 hours from here and the journey from Colombo’s international airport will take up to three hours.
Introduction
Apsara is a spacious holiday villa that was completed in mid-2010. Its river frontage location is ideal for those seeking a peaceful spot in a rural setting. The waterfront and the gardens attract many species of birds, monitor lizards and even the occasional monkey. Apsara offers comfortable rooms, living and dining area, and a swimming pool set in lush tropical gardens edged by the river. Apsara can accommodate up to six guests and is rented on a villa-only basis with meals provided at cost price.

Accommodation
The three a/c double rooms are located around the central courtyard. Interiors are furnished with four-poster beds and fitted wardrobes. The master bedroom has a safe. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The living and dining areas open out to the gardens, swimming pool and the river beyond. The living room is equipped with a flat screen HD TV, Blue Ray DVD player, surround sound system (which also extends to the pool area), wifi facility, and a selection of board games. Other villa facilities include well equipped pantry with cooker/oven; laundry room with wash/dryer, iron; swimming pool/deck and private jetty for boating and other watersports. There is a manager, housekeeper and cook who will ensure that you are well taken care of. The cook can prepare Sri Lanka cuisine. He will also help with purchasing seafood from the local fish market and fresh vegetables from the village fair. With prior notice, he will also organise a beach BBQ or sunset drinks and canapés at the nearby lighthouse. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
Excursions
Enjoy the sunkissed beaces of Bentota which is only five mintues away. Watersports are on offer right off the private jetty at Apsara. Set off early morning to the Beruwala fisheries harbour as the local fisherman come ashore with their day’s catch. Purchase fresh seafood including prawns, crab and have it prepared to your liking once back at the villa. Bentota and Hikkaduwa, two of the coast’s most popular resort towns are located nearby and offer numerous watersports including scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, jet skiing, water skiing, sailing and boat trips along the river. We also recommend a visit to Lunuganga, a garden retreat that was originally an old rubber plantation that Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s most famous architect, transformed into a haven of peace. 10 kms inland from Bentota are the beautiful Brief Gardens, the rural retreat of Bevis Bawa, the older brother of architect Geoffrey Bawa which is also well worth a visit.
