Marley’s Beach House is a cosy two-bedroomed beach villa in a fishing village called Mihiripanna, just five minutes away from Unawatuna on the Galle Coast. It is close to Unawatuna’s beachside cafes and restaurants as well as the historic 17C Dutch Fort in Galle which is only 15 minutes away. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about four hours or consider taking the Air taxi to Koggola which is only 10 minutes from here.
Introduction
Marley’s Beach House is set amidst a small tropical garden with swaying palms and steps leading down to the sea. This self-contained beach house is well equipped and can accommodate up to five guests. The interiors are colourful with modern furniture. The house is rented for a minimum of four nights on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

Accommodation
There are two a/c double rooms - one furnished with a king size bed and the other a queen size bed. There is also a couch in the living room that can sleep an additional guest. There are two bathrooms with h/w showers. One also has a bathtub and is situated outdoors, allowing for wonderful sea views.
Facilities
The living and dining area opens out to a verandah overlooking the sea. There is a family room with plenty of books and board games. The open-plan kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, six-burner cooker, and dishwasher. Guests can eat out, cook their own meals or have the in-house cook-cum-caretaker prepare Sri Lankan meals. He will also be happy to do the grocery shopping. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. There are several bars, cafes and restaurants just walking distance away in Unawatuna. There are also five-star hotels in Koggala and Galle Fort offering fine dining. Marley’s doesn’t have a swimming pool, but the sea in front of the house is good for swimming during the season from December to April.
Excursions
Snorkelling and Scuba diving is possible in Unawatuna Bay. There are also several surf points nearby including Mihiripanna, Unawatuna, and Dahawalla. Visit Galle’s Dutch Fort, a UNESCO world Heritage Site. An entire morning can be spent exploring the maze of narrow roadways lined with Dutch and British Colonial era buildings that are still in use, sturdy ramparts overlooking Galle’s international cricket stadium, and scattering of shops, art galleries, museums, boutique hotels and cafes. Take a boat ride on Koggala Lake where rural life unfolds. Along the way, visit a village temple or a cinnamon estate.
