Villa Spicy is a characterful two-bedroom villa five minutes inland from the sun-kissed beaches of Unawatuna. The villa is walking distance to Unawatuna’s beachside bars and cafes. Vehicles can’t be taken up to Villa Spicy. Guests are met at nearby Wijeya Beach restaurant and a short stroll across the old railway line leads to the villa. The historic city of Galle is 10 minutes away. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take about four hours which will be reduced considerably once the Southern highway is completed by the end of 2011.
Introduction
Villa Spicy is a compact, two-storey holiday villa set within a walled garden that provides much privacy. Although inland, it’s close enough to walk across to the beach each morning or by dusk to catch the beautiful sunset. The ground floor of the house consists of a living room opening out to a spacious terrace and small garden. Upstairs are two charming bedrooms opening out to a balcony. Interiors are vibrant and well equipped for a relaxing holiday. Villa Spicy is ideal for a family or friends travelling together.

Accommodation
There are two double rooms furnished with king-size four-poster beds fitted with mosquito netting. The bedrooms open out to a sit-out balcony with a work desk and looks onto the garden. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The living room is furnished with a comfy sofa and has a library with interesting titles, iPod dock, music system, and board games. There is a bar counter and spacious kitchen equipped with a fridge, cooker, crockery and cutlery. Dine on the terrace which is furnished with an eight seater dining table. The small garden is well laid out with tropical foliage. The corner garden seats here are ideal for reading or taking in the sun. Villa Spicy is staffed with a cook/house keeper who is very helpful and will take you to the local market to purchase fresh seafood, fruit and vegetables. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
Excursions
Swimming, surfing and scuba diving is possible during the season form December to April in Unawatuna, Ahangama and Mirissa. Experience Unawatuna’s youthful lifestyle and the rustic beach bars and restaurants. Wijeya Beach, a popular beach side restaurant serving fusion cuisine, is also just across the roadway. The south of Sri Lanka beyond Dondra is considered one of the best locations in the world for spotting blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. Whale watching excursions into the deep seas is organised by Mirissa Water Sports during the season from December to April when the seas are calm. We also recommend a visit to Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site and a melting pot of cultural influences. With its well-preserved ramparts overlooking the cricket stadium, the grand old lighthouse staring into the Indian Ocean, the narrow streets, interesting restaurants and boutique hotels full of character, Galle Fort deserves hours of exploration.
