Tangalle
Located on Sri Lanka's Southern coastline, Tangalle (otherwise known as Tangalla) is a low key town, but what makes this area stand out are the beaches, coves and rocky outcrops that line the coast.
Tangalle and its surrounding beaches are located much further east than some of the more developed areas of the south coast, and therefore there's a sense of space with glorious views of the Indian ocean. Here you'll find some upmarket resorts such as Anantara and Aman, alongside small boutique hotels.
Please note that Sri Lanka's Southern Coast is rugged and can be a bit choppy. Not all beaches are swimmable at all times so please always check with your hotel before going into the sea. If in doubt, use the beach for relaxing on and the pool at your hotel for swimming.
