Inspiration
Trek through one of Sri Lanka's most significant remaining fragments of rainforest with your chauffeur-guide, just a short drive from Galle.
This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve protects 5,306 hectares rich with flora and fauna. Binoculars are recommended to admire the birdlife in the canopy, as well as butterflies, dragonflies and vibrant flowers.
Learn from your guide about the medicinal uses of plants as you walk, as well as the forest ecology and how it strikes a careful balance. Twenty of Sri Lanka's endemic bird species are found here, including the Sri Lanka grey hornbill and red-faced malhoka.
Approximate duration: 3 to 4 hours, depending on the trail.
