Stafford Bungalow is a refurbished colonial-period bungalow nestled amidst the Stafford tea estate in the village hamlet of Ragala in the hill country. The distance to the hill station of Nuwara Eliya is just 40 minutes.
Introduction
Built in 1884 by a Scottish plantation manager, the Stafford Bungalow and the surrounding tea estate are now owned by the Hemas Company. The interiors have been refurbished retaining its original old world charm. This three-bedroom bungalow can comfortably accommodate up to seven guests and is rented on a full-board basis which includes all meals.

There are three spacious bedrooms - two furnished with double beds and the third furnished with three single beds. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The living room has a fireplace which is lit on a cool night. Sri Lankan and western cuisine is served here in the main dining room. High tea with freshly baked scones and homemade jams is served on the front lawn. Other in-house facilities include satellite TV, DVD player, music system, tennis court, laundry service and butler service. Stafford bungalow has a team of staff including an experienced cook, housekeeper and gardener.
Excursions
Enjoy the tea experience with a walk through the Stafford estate and a visit to the tea factory. Explore the rural village of Ragala with small wayside boutiques and village homes. Play a round of golf at the challenging 18-hole course at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. This testing course was built by a Scottish soldier in 1889. The British influence is clear to see here and occasionally you may even feel you are playing golf back in the British Isles. The clubhouse and bar is an atmospheric place to enjoy a drink and meal after your round. Other activities in Nuwara Eliya include horse riding, boating in Lake Gregory, bird watching and nature treks. For those interested in culture and heritage, there are several heritage mansions that are worth seeing as well as the Holy Trinity Anglican Church and the Sita Amman Kovil.
