The Sri Lanka Travel Specialists
Seagreen is a family run guesthouse which is housed in a narrow building that spreads across three floors. This site originally housed a colonial period home that dates back to the 18C of which, now only the old sign board that says `Seagreen’ still remains. The Sri Lankan family that now owns this property has lived within the Fort for nine generations and knows the area well. The first and second floors consist of the bedrooms and a rooftop terrace with spectacular views across the Fort and the turquoise seas. The owners live on the ground floor and are at hand to ensure you have a relaxing holiday. Seagreen is simple, but clean and comfortable and as well as impressing during our own inspections receives good Trip Advisor reviews.
There are five bedrooms named after the different bastions of the Fort ramparts. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished and are equipped with a/c and overhead fans. All have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.
Moon &Star: Located on the first floor, these two rooms are furnished with double beds.
Aeolus: Also on the first floor, this is a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed and sitting area.
Clippenberg: Located on the second floor, this is a spacious bedroom furnished with a king-size bed.
Neptune: This is a twin room located on the second floor that opens out to the rooftop terrace with spectacular sea views. Beds can be put together to form a double bed.
The first floor has a small sitting area overlooking the ramparts and the sea. There is complementary wifi internet access in this sitting area. The rooftop terrace is perfect for watching the spectacular sunsets or taking in the sun. Seagreen Guesthouse is booked on a room only basis. Meals can be ordered from the café next door, which is also run by the same family. This is a basic café, but is popular for their Sri Lankan rice and curries and snacks. The food is delivered to Seagreen and served at the rooftop, sitting area on the first floor, or in your own room. There are several other small cafes and restaurants nearby where you can have your meals. Other facilities include room service, laundry service, additional bedding including children’s cot upon request, snorkelling gear, bicycles and mopeds for hire, and walking tours of Galle Fort. Safe swimming and snorkelling is possible during the season from December to April near the lighthouse just a short stroll away. Unawatuna’s sun kissed beaches are only a short 15 minute tuk-tuk ride away.
Seagreen is a small five-bedroom guesthouse with beautiful views of the ocean from its rooftop on Rampart Street in Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take about 2.5 hours via the Southern Highway.
