Accommodation at Santani Wellness Resort & Spa is thoughtfully designed to harmonise with its surroundings, offering 18 elegantly minimalist rooms. Among these, 16 stand-alone Mountain View Chalets are elevated on stilts, minimising environmental impact while maximising the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges an inspiring setting for meditation and reflection. Each chalet is furnished with either a king-sized bed or twin beds, along with comfortable seating, a wardrobe, and an ensuite bathroom featuring a hot-water shower. The remaining two rooms, set apart from the chalets, share a common living area and overlook the tranquil paddy fields, offering a more intimate retreat. To preserve the resort’s atmosphere of peace and mindfulness, Santani welcomes guests aged 12 and above, and rooms are designed for double occupancy only.
What we love
- This is a true retreat, nestled amidst lush greenery, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains
- We loved the exceptional wellness facilities, including spa treatments, yoga sessions, and Ayurvedic therapies
- The food here is excellent with meals crafted to allow for individual dietary preferences
The hotel sits at a high elevation of approximately 2,800 ft (850m) above sea level, so can be cooler and wetter at certain times of year
The emphasis on digital detox here may not suit those seeking constant connectivity
The hotel only accepts guests aged 12 years old and over and with its focus on a calm, healing retreat would not be an ideal choice for a family stay
The hotel is celebrated for its holistic approach to sustainability, seamlessly integrating environmental stewardship, community engagement and wellness practices. This runs through every element of the hotel’s management from the use of renewable energy and water conservation to eco-conscious architecture and the sourcing of culinary ingredients, all of which come from nearby organic farms.
The resort is approximately 20 minutes from the cultural centre of Kandy via a scenic drive through the verdant hills and tea plantations. Udawattakele Forest Reserve and Knuckles Mountain Range are both a bout 7km (4.5miles) from the hotel and worth a visit for their rich biodiversity.
