Handun Villas, immersed in lush greenery minutes away from a secluded beach stretch in Sri Lanka's south coast village of Talalla, is a charming boutique hotel. Nestled in 10 acres amidst indigenous trees and birdlife, Handun Villas comprises of a Dutch design Wallawwa that dates back 120 years and a newly built pavilion for some of the rooms.
Despite its age, the Wallawwa has a modern feel to it with its stripped bare walls and contemporary furniture and includes the lobby area, indoor dining and spa treatment room and leads to the outdoor dining area and pool.
Handun Villas has 8 rooms in total with 3 Standard rooms and 5 Deluxe Rooms, all named after trees found within the garden. All rooms are air-conditioned with an overhead fan and fitted with king-sized beds and ensuite bathrooms.
While the Standard rooms are smaller in size, the Deluxe rooms are spacious and have a more rustic feel to it with whitewashed furniture and soft colours complimenting its look. The big open-air bathrooms have a walk-in shower cubicle with h/w showers, while certain Deluxe rooms also have the addition of a standalone bathtub. All Deluxe rooms can be tripled.
Handun Villas has a 40ft length pool and a spa which offers wellness treatments. Their restaurant serves a variety of cuisines including Sri Lankan, Italian with an emphasis on seafood, they also have a kid’s menu. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol and corkage will be not be charged. The hotel owns a secluded beach located on the other side of the road, so guests will have to cross the main road in order to access it.
