Brunton Boatyard

Cochin, India
Luxury hotel banner
Situated on the site of a historic boatyard in Fort Kochi, Brunton Boatyard is a colonial-style property that celebrates the region’s maritime culture.

Its waterfront location means you can enjoy tranquil views from most rooms and facilities, including the pool–observe the fishermen at Kochi’s iconic fishing nets as you relax on your private patio or lounge poolside.

It’s a large hotel with extensive facilities, including two restaurants, pier-side dining, a bar, and a small fitness centre. Take the hotel’s bicycles to explore Fort Kochi and lose yourself in the city’s streets before retreating to your comfortable room.

What we love

    • A tasteful colonial-style hotel on the seafront in historic Fort Kochi
    • The sea view rooms all have a private patio where you can watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch–we recommend requesting a higher level for the best views
    • The heated outdoor pool is the perfect place to unwind and soak in some of Kochi’s most iconic scenes
    • The main restaurant serves up a delicious blend of Portuguese, Arab, Kosher, Dutch and Keralan cuisine. But the fresh seafood at Terrace Grill is the real prize
    • Take the hotel’s bicycles to explore the maze of streets in the historic centre

The boatyard can get noisy so light sleepers may wish to bring earplugs for the mornings

The property is quite large so it’s not for everyone but the facilities are fantastic

Despite appearances, the property is actually modern but gives a nod to the region’s colonial history–it may not be authentic but it’s still charming in its own way

Families are welcome, but amenities are not designed with families in mind. Cots and extra beds can be added to rooms and childcare can be arranged for an additional charge.

Brunton Boatyard is a CGH Earth hotel, all of which are lauded for their eco and community credentials. Brunton Boatyard is no exception, with rainwater harvesting, solar power, and a deep integration with the local community.

Located on Calvetty Road to the north of the Fort Kochi area, on the site of the historic boatyard, which is still in action.

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.

Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.

I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace

My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!

Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.

We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.

A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
