Pench Tree Lodge

Pench National Park, India
Luxury hotel banner
Experience the wildlife and forests of Pench, which inspired Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, from this eco focused jungle lodge.

For truly adventurous spirits, Pench Tree Lodge’s six treehouses elevated high on stilts are the ideal place to live out their jungle dwelling daydreams. Those who prefer their feet closer to the ground can stay in one of the ten thoughtfully designed cottages. All rooms feature four-poster beds, air-conditioning and ensuite bathrooms with organic amenities.

The lodge features a swimming pool, and indoor and outdoor dining spaces. But it’s the wildlife experience that is the main draw here: jeep safaris with knowledgeable guides to uncover the wonders of Pench, walking safaris, cycling trails and birding. The lodge has also built a professional photographic hide, the first of its kind in India, offering an eye level view of birdlife and mammals visiting the waterhole to drink.

What we love

    • An eco-friendly lodge which offers the perfect base for exploring Pench Tiger Reserve
    • A visit to the Kipling Hide is a must for photographers, offering the chance to experience wildlife undisturbed and at eye-level
    • Breakfasts are typically served picnic style on your morning game drive
    • A romantic bush dinner surrounded by lanterns is a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion
    • Discover some of the resident birdlife more than 100 species have been recorded around the lodge itself

The treehouses offer a unique experience but require reasonable mobility as they have a series of steps to access them if this is not for you, the cottages are a better choice

Night time temperatures drop considerably so it’s recommended to pack layers and a hat and gloves

As is common with other national parks in Madhya Pradesh, the park is closed on Wednesday afternoons

Mobile phone service is patchy here, although guests are usually too occupied with the safari activities to be concerned with this

The lodge welcomes families with children of all ages and a children’s menu is offered. As with all wildlife areas, parents must accompany children in the lodge and on pathways at all times.

Pench Tree Lodge purposefully chose a location which was underdeveloped, to avoid adding pressure to over visited locations. Keeping a light footprint, they have a strong focus in conservation and rewilding the 40 acre estate that they call home which is now flourishing with local flora and fauna. They have won numerous awards including Gold in the International Responsible Tourism awards for “Best in Nature Positivity” in 2023.

The lodge is located approximately 3 hours drive from Nagpur and 4 hours from Jabalpur, both of which have airports with links to major hubs in India. The road is a tarmacked highway making this a comfortable journey.

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.

Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.

I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace

My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!

Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.

We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.

A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
