RAAS Chhatrasagar

Nimaaj, India
Luxury hotel banner
RAAS Chhatrasagar is a beautiful boutique safari-style camp in rural Rajasthan.

Perched on the side of a lake overlooking a dam, this tranquil spot is a paradise for birdwatchers; over 200 species frequent the area, including storks, flamingos and kingfishers.

Capacious tents face the lake, kitted out with plush beds, large bathtubs, heating, and air-conditioning. They’re soundproofed but you’re never far from birdsong here. At the all-day dining pavilion, they serve everything from pasta dishes to colourful salads, but the real jewel in the menu’s crown are the family curries, with recipes handed down from generations past.

What we love

    • Part of the Raas group of boutique hotels; expect quality and style
    • Home to over 200 bird species, this lakeside property is a birdwatcher’s dream
    • Brilliantly located; this spot breaks the journey between Jaipur and Jodhpur and other destinations in Rajasthan
    • Expansive tents with luxurious amenities – we love the huge bathtubs for a post-safari chillout
    • All of the tents are waterside, with equally impressive views across the dam
    • Your knowledgeable hosts are happy to share their passion for the local area, allowing you to visit local villages
    • Enjoy jeep excursions and explore the walking trails to get up close to the resident birdlife
    • The clear, rural skies ensure incredible starg

The tents are relatively close together but they’ve recently made efforts to soundproof them

The lake can dry up early in the year if there’s no monsoon, meaning animal sightings are less frequent

A family-friendly property with dedicated family accommodation. Nature-loving children will appreciate the safari experience and waterside location but it’s probably best-suited to children above 4.
The water at every RAAS hotel is heated with solar power, and they’re working hard to reduce their water consumption. Each hotel grows its own herbs and vegetables, and anything not grown by the hotel is locally sourced. 70% of all labour and material used to construct each hotel comes from within a 30km radius, reducing the carbon footprint and supporting the local community where possible. fact image Location
RAAS Chhatrasagar is near the village of Nimaj, 110km east of Jodhpur, where you’ll find the nearest airport. It’s a remote, rural property.

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.

Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.

I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace

My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!

Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Wonderful company. Our holiday in Sri Lanka was perfect. Local knowledge made all the difference

We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.

A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
