SUJÁN Sher Bagh

Ranthambore National Park, India
Luxury hotel banner
SUJÁN Sher Bagh is an intimate tented camp a short drive from India’s most accessible tiger viewing destination, Ranthambore National Park.

You’ll be instantly transported back to the 1920s and the days of the British Raj, with colonial-era furniture, antiques, and dark wood details. Staff are attentive and delight with details like blankets and binoculars to enhance your game drives. Dine on mouthwatering cuisine at the restaurant, a mix of Italian and Indian, and when it’s time to kick back, lounge by the pool or book yourself in at the spa. End your day by the campfire and share safari stories with the other guests.

What we love

    • Attentive service–we love the extra details like blankets to keep you warm on a morning safari
    • This is part of Sujan, a small group of hotels in India known for their boutique design and high quality service
    • Observe tigers, deer, peacocks, eagles and more in nearby Ranthambore National Park
    • The owners, Jaisal and Anjali, work hard to support wildlife conservation and the local rural communities–you can feel good about a stay here
    • Atmospheric camp with plenty of character–by day, admire the textiles, antiques, and photography on display. In the evening, enjoy the soft glow from the torchlit pathways
    • Fantastic food served at the restaurant, from Italian to Indian cuisine. Sujan properties are known for their foodie flair and quality

Tiger sightings can never be guaranteed but numbers have increased in recent years

The tents aren’t soundproof but there’s something soothing about drifting off to the sounds of the jungle

Sher Bagh is best suited to families with older children or teens, as there are no specific facilities for younger kids. Babysitting can be arranged upon request and the restaurant can provide plainer international food to cater for picky eaters. Extra beds can be added to all tents.

The owners are keen environmentalists and have planted many trees around the property as part of a rewilding initiative. In 1988, they co-established The Ranthambhore Foundation, an NGO, and The SNS Foundation, which strives to educate communities so they can establish economic independence.

Most of the hotel staff are from surrounding rural communities and all of the experiences at the property are carefully designed to give back to the community. They also take in lesser-visited areas of the park to avoid overtourism, and a small portion of every stay goes towards conservation initiatives in the local area.

One of the initiatives they support is Village Wildlife Volunteers, an organisation that works to defend the wildlife of Ranthambore National Park against poachers and other threats.

SUJÁN Sher Bagh is located on Sherpur just outside of Ranthambore National Park./p>

What our travellers say

We went to Sri Lanka as a three-generation family of three. The superb trip was organised by Samanthie and the team and it's difficult to see how it could have been bettered.

Red Dot organised the most wonderful 3-week holiday for us. Samanthie built a trip around the amazing sights we had requested visiting, together with her own suggestions and a wide mix of hotels, which gave us the flavours of both traditional Sri Lanka and the sleek, stylish contemporary version of the country. Our Driver made the whole experience incredibly special for us.

I can’t thank Cherylle and the Red Dot team enough for their meticulous planning of our family holiday to India travelling through Rajasthan over Christmas. As a family of all adults, every suggestion from daily activities to hotel choices was simply perfect. We travelled through Delhi, Ranthambore (an unforgettable tiger safari!), Jaipur and Agra and I truly feel we experienced the very best of each destination while moving at a relaxed, well thought out pace

My partner arranged a holiday trip at fairly short notice to Sri Lanka with Red Dot on a recommendation, Samanthie was so patient & helpful with her suggested itinerary which we followed with some minor amendments. On arrival at Colombo we met Manjula our chauffeur/guide who was absolutely brilliant!

Dulmini and the Red Dot Team arranged a fantastic trip for us around Assam and North East India. Faultless service. I cannot recommend them more highly.

We looked up, and communicated with umpteen tour operators. Though Red Dot seemed to have offices in Sri Lanka and the UK, they seemed to have the best reviews. We were fortunate enough to correspond with Cherylle, who not only assured us of the safety of our friend, but created a personalised, and flexible, itinerary which we could not have done ourselves.

A 14-day tour with Red Dot Tours was the perfect antidote to the bleak UK winter. After a glowing recommendation from a friend, we contacted Red Dot Tours and were not disappointed. Our consultant, Lahiru, curated a seamless itinerary. Throughout the planning phase, Lahiru was incredibly responsive; the final itinerary—delivered via a user-friendly 'Guest Portal'—was impressively detailed, covering every hotel stay and excursion.
