The natural starting point for any Annapurna trek, Birethanti Lodge sits on a promontory above the Modi Khola river, reached via a suspension bridge strung with prayer flags.
Its 18 handcrafted rooms look out over half a mile of river frontage, with lawns full of marigolds, poinsettias and butterflies providing a gentle introduction to what lies ahead. The nearby subtropical forests are wonderful for birdwatching, and the proximity to the road means there is always the reassurance of Pokhara not too far behind.
