A neat crescent of green and white terraced bungalows on the opposite side of the Modi Khola Valley from Ghandruk, reached by dropping down to the suspension bridge and climbing back up the other side.
The 12 rooms feel genuinely stylish for a trekking lodge, with parquet floors, vaulted ceilings and proper black slate bathrooms. In spring and autumn, guests can watch the village honey hunters scale rickety bamboo ladders to collect wild honeycomb from the sheer cliff faces below, a quite extraordinary thing to witness.
