Dhulikhel
Dhulikhel sits on the eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, far enough from the city to feel like a genuine escape but close enough to reach in under an hour.
On a clear day the Himalayan views from here are impressive, and the town itself has a quiet, lived-in character with old Newari streets and a couple of very good hotels that make the most of the setting. It works well as a first or last night on a Nepal trip, or as a base for exploring the eastern valley without the noise and traffic of Kathmandu. We use it regularly as a peaceful first or last night for clients who would rather avoid a second night in the city.
