Nagarkot

Kathmandu Valley, Nepal

Nagarkot is a small hill station on the northeastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, at around 2,100 metres, and it is best known for early morning views across to the Himalayas on clear days.

The landscape is pleasant rather than dramatic and the place is quiet, with a handful of lodges and little else going on. It is worth visiting for the right reasons: a night away from Kathmandu, fresh air and the chance of a Himalayan sunrise. We would not recommend it as a standalone destination but it slots well into a valley itinerary.
