Kurintar

Pokhara & Annapurna, Nepal

Kurintar is a small riverside town on the Prithvi Highway between Kathmandu and Pokhara, and its main draw is the Manakamana cable car that rises steeply from the valley floor up to a hilltop Hindu temple.

The temple is of genuine significance to Nepali Hindus and the cable car ride itself, over forested ridges, is worth doing. Most visitors stop here en route between the two cities rather than making a special journey, and it works well in that role. We can include it as part of the drive to or from Pokhara for those who want to break the journey with something interesting.
