Practical comfort & peace of mind
Yes Sri Lanka is considered safe but we would recommend exercising the same caution you would at home. Be careful with your valuable belongings, and if something feels weird and uncomfortable then use your instincts. It’s a laid back country, so there’s no need to carry around expensive jewellery and watches, as they will be hugely expensive by local standards. If you would like to do this, please keep them in a safe. Having a chauffeur guide with you on your trip really helps your feeling of safety and security compared with booking local transfers, buses or trains. We offer 24 hour on the ground support.
It’s very uncommon to get sick when travelling in Sri Lanka with Red Dot as we recommend high quality hotels, restaurants and places to stop on route between different places and this means high standards of hygiene. We recommend avoiding washed salad, drinking bottled or filtered water, only eating very hot street food, washing hands regularly and taking some hand sanitiser.
If you are travelling with a British Passport, you can apply for you ETA here https://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/visainfo/extsheta.jsp?locale=en_US. For the most up to date advice, just ask us, or go to the Foreign Travel Advice website.
Always talk to your doctor about this at least 6 weeks before you travel. You can also check Travel Health Pro for much more detailed advice on Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka was officially declared malaria free in 2016 so anti-malarial drugs are no longer required. However, Dengue fever and Chikungunya are present, particularly after heavy rains. Wear long tops and pants during dawn and dusk hours and apply repellent containing DEET. You can also get bracelets and additional plug in repellents before you travel as extra deterrent.
It is our strong recommendation to have travel insurance at the time of booking or have annual cover. This is for health reasons but just in case your plans change in anyway.

Yes Sri Lanka is an excellent option, but it depends on your disability and your needs. We see this as a very welcome challenge and love to help you see and do as much as possible. We like to have a very detailed chat with you to find out what your needs are. We can then design something completely from scratch with you.
